CityVille goes to the tropics with new Tiki-themed Mystery Crate and decorations

If you're a fan of island living (and who isn't?), you'll likely want to bring a bit of that tropical spirit to your town in CityVille, and luckily you now can! There's an entire Tiki theme that's now available in the game's store, starting with a new Mystery Crate.

The Mystery Crate costs 35 City Cash each, but includes one of four possible items:
Kauhuhu Mansion (Home) - 2100-4200 citizensPloynesian Pool House (Home) - 1600-3200 citizensTonga Room - earns 999 coins; requires 165 GoodsLeilani Volcano (decoration) - 26% bonus to payout
In addition to being in the Mystery Crate, three of the four items are available individually, if you'd rather not take a risk on earning an item you don't want from the crate. The Tonga Room costs 35 City Cash, the Pool House costs 60 City Cash, the Volcano goes for 35 City Cash, and the Mansion doesn't currently seem to be available through any other means.

In terms of other items, there are other decorations to choose from, which are marked as only being available for four more days. Here's what's available: Big Kahuna Bungalow (Home) - 25,000 coins; 200-380 citizens; 188 coins in rent every four hoursTiki Warrior Dancers (Decoration) - 10,000 coins; 4% bonus payoutFiery Tiki Statue (Decoration) - 15 City Cash; 6% bonus payoutBamboo Sidewalk - 100 coinsTiki Torch (Decoration) - 1,000 coins; 1% bonus payoutHot Coal Sidewalk - 100 coinsBamboo Fence (Decoration) - 10,000 coins; 3% bonus payoutHawaiian Luau (Decoration) - 50,000 coins; 10% bonus payout
Again, if you're even remotely interested in purchasing any of these items, you need to do so fast - they'll disappear from the game's store after four days, likely to never be seen again. Even if you just store these items, wouldn't you rather have them waiting for you now, instead of missing out on them entirely? I know I do, so if you'll excuse me - I'm off on a shopping spree!

FarmVille July 4th Decorations: Summer Lawn Chairs, Festival Table and more

What goes better with July 4th festivities than backyards and barbecues? Ok, maybe fireworks, but that's for another time. For the picnic and cook-out lover in all of us, Zynga has released a set of four items in the new FarmVille July 4th limited edition item theme that are for doing just that. What's more, all four of these items go for coins!

First, there's the Festival Table, which is technically just a picnic table, but it has been decorated with a flag table runner, glasses of lemonade, plates, and even animated sparklers. It's super cute, and you can add one to your farm for just 50,000 coins. To go along with this, you have three different seating options: the Summer Lawn Chairs offer a red and blue chair with a white drink table in the middle (more lemonade and American flags sit atop the table) for 20,000 coins, while individual Red and Blue Lawn Chairs go for 5,000 coins each.

I don't know about you, but I've been saving up my one-time-use fireworks for just such an occasion, and these chairs will allow me to make the perfect seating arrangement for my imaginary farmers to watch a spectacular show. Of course, how many chairs you purchase, and what you do with them is up to you, but you'll need to shop relatively quickly. After the next two weeks, these items will be gone from the store, but if more July 4th items are released in the meantime (as there likely will be), we'll make sure to let you know.

FarmVille Irish Decorations: European Robins, Irish Library, Bench Set and more

Tonight's FarmVille update sees the release of two new buildings and four decorative items in the current Ireland limited edition item theme. This update's an unusual one, though, as two of the items are available under a limited time "sale." Remember, this isn't the first time Zynga has released new items and placed them immediately on sale, so you'll know that you're actually getting a bargain with these two items if you do decide to splurge.

The European Robins is a pair of decorative birds for 9 Farm Cash, while the Irish Library is a large building that costs only 18 Farm Cash. Currently, there isn't any marking letting us know when these sale prices will expire, so plan ahead if you have any interest in them whatsoever.

One other building is now available: an Irish Shop, which is actually one of the cutest buildings I can recall from recent memory. Sure, it's charming details will cost you, as the Irish Shop is priced at 20 Farm Cash, but if you have that lying around, I wouldn't blame you for making the splurge.

The other items are a picnic Bench Set for 15,000 coins, an Irish Stone Wall (covered in lovely yellow flowers) that costs 10,000 coins per piece and a grassy mound covered in Wild Crocus that costs 8,000 coins. All told, the coin items here aren't terribly exciting, although the Irish Stone Wall is quite lovely on its own (whether you currently have an Irish theme on your farm or not).

Whatever your opinion on these new items, all of them will leave the store in a matter of two weeks, so make sure to shop early and fast so as to not forget these items are there and then lose out on them when they expire.

CityVille offers the glitz and glam with new Hollywood decorations

In addition to the rewards you'll receive by completing the Movie Star Goals in CityVille, you can also purchase a set of businesses, homes and decorations in the game's store in the same Hollywood theme.

For the lone Business, you can pick up the Bowling Alley, which costs just 6,000 coins. It needs 180 Goods to operate, and you'll be able to collect 765 coins of profit every time those Goods are used. Meanwhile, a single residence is also available to purchase - the Private Estate, which starts at a population of 120 that can be expanded to 220 citizens. It costs 7,500 coins and gives off 150 coins in profit regardless of the number of citizens "living" in it.

The other items are decorations, and you can find out all about them behind the break.
There are five decorative goodies currently available in the game, with some being available for both coins or City Cash.

Celebrity Trailer - 24,000 coins - 9% bonus payout
Star Walk (sidewalk) - 50 coins per piece
Celebrity Billboard - 15 City Cash - 6% bonus payout
Daring Rescue (movie scene) - 24,000 coins - 9% bonus payout
Alien Attack (movie scene) - 20 City Cash - 14% bonus payout

While the Bowling Alley business may not immediately scream of a Hollywood theme, plenty of movies contain scenes inside them, so I can definitely find the connection (oh, and "They call me the dude").

While none of these items have a listed expiration date, it's likely that some of them won't be around forever, so shop fast!

FarmVille Mother's Day Decorations: Dahlia Flowerbed, Mom Day Gnome, Mom's Gift Basket & More

While tonight's FarmVille update brought with it new animals, trees, a building and even a new crop, the largest set of items came to the store's decorations section, as six new items are available to purchase, either for your own farm, or as intended - giving them as a gift to the mothers in your life.

Four of the six items are premium, but not all of them actually scream "Mother's Day," giving you a chance to outfit your own farm with some lovely decorations in the process. For Gnome collectors, the Mom Day Gnome serves you breakfast in bed for just 10 Farm Cash (that's actually a cheap price, compared to the normal 15+ Farm Cash price of other Gnomes). If you're more of a gardener, you can also pick up the Humming Birds for 12 Farm Cash.

Meanwhile, the other two Farm Cash items are specific to the holiday, as a Mom's Day Sign costs just 2 Farm Cash and a Mom's Gift Basket costs just a single Farm Cash. Why so cheap? Well, the items must cost Farm Cash to enable in-game gifting, according to the current store setup. In this way, you'll be able to spend just a couple of Farm Cash at a time, and still give those mothers in your life something truly special (and exclusive in the game).

Interestingly, one of the most Mother's Day-centric items in tonight's theme goes for coins. While the Dahlia Flowerbed is another generic decorative item, going for 5,000 coins each, the Mom Day Sign II is mind-bogglingly priced at 80,000 coins. Don't get me wrong - the sign is lovely, and while it doesn't actively say "Happy Mother's Day," the sign does have "Mom" in bright red letters. I know my mother would love to have this sign on her farm, so why am I not allowed to give it to her? Yes, she could purchase it for her own farm (and likely will), but that just isn't as special, at least in my humble opinion.

Either way, whether you purchase these items for yourself, for your own mother, or just for your friends who happen to be mothers, you'll need to do so within the next week, as these items will expire (likely until next year) after that point.

FarmVille Enchanted Love Decorations: Romantic Cottage, Wedding Fountain, Princess Gnome & More

With tonight's FarmVille update, we see the release of seven new decorative items in the Enchanted Love limited edition item theme, inspired by the real world wedding between Prince William and Kate Middleton. However, just like the animals released this evening (the Welsh Corgi and Knight Steed), this set of "new" items actually contains some re-releases from past themes. We'll make sure to let you know what those are (saving you some coins / Farm Cash) as we go along.

First, a new building is available in the form of the Romantic Cottage. This cottage is accessorized with lovely pink ribbons along the roof line, and you can add one to your farm(s) for 20 Farm Cash. You'll gain 2,000 experience points for purchasing the building, and as it doesn't necessarily scream "wedding," you could keep this item around for Valentine's Day, anniversary celebrations or any other "love" themed event you can imagine. I don't know about you, but I love items that can multi-task, and this is definitely one of them.

Along with the Romantic Cottage, six "new" decorative items are available to purchase, with only half of these items truly being new to the game. The three completely new items are the Wedding Fountain, Wedding Bouquet, and Flower Pot, which cost 12 Farm Cash, 100,000 coins, and 20,000 coins each, respectively.

Meanwhile, make sure you check your Storage Sheds or Cellars before purchasing the Prince or Princess Gnomes, along with the pieces of Wedding Fences, as we've seen these items in the game before. The Prince Gnome and Princess Gnome go for 15 Farm Cash each, but were originally seen back in the Fairy Tale theme back in February (for the same price). Meanwhile, the Wedding Fence was also seen back in February, but in the Valentine's Day theme.

All told, while none of the re-released items have become more expensive, it's always smarter to take a few seconds to check your storage buildings before spending more Farm Cash / coins, so I hope I saved you some cash there. If you haven't purchased any of these items previously, they, along with the entirely new items, will be available in the game's store for the next two weeks. While these items may come back at a later date (three of these items are proof of that), do you really want to take the chance that they won't? Yeah, I don't either. Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to buy some new decorations for my farm!

CityVille joins the Royal Wedding celebrations with new decorations

FarmVille and Nickelodeon's Royal Wedding Run aren't the only games to celebrate Prince William and Kate Middleton's fateful union anymore. Zynga has updated CityVille with four new decorations to honor the Royal Wedding. The new items include a British Flag, which for 200 coins provides a 1 percent payout bonus, and the Royal Guard that, for 8 City Cash, offers the exact same bonus. The Waving Royal People is the same story, but even more expensive: 10 City Cash for 1 percent bonus. However, the Royal Palace Gate offers 4 percent payout bonus for 5 thousand coins. Regardless of whether these prices fit with a royal fellow's lavish lifestyle, we still call foul on their utility. But hey, at least they'll allow you celebrate right along with the Royal Family ... in Facebook.

FarmVille LE English Countryside Decorations: Red Phone Booth, Cricket Gnome & More

As part of tonight's FarmVille update, we've seen the release of five new decorative items in the current English Countryside limited edition item theme. All five of these items are available to purchase for either your Home Farm or your second farm in the English Countryside, but remember, if you'd like to have one of these items on each of your farms, you'll need to buy them twice.

Interestingly, only one of these five items is priced for Farm Cash - that being the Cricket Gnome. It's not unusual to see Gnomes priced for Farm Cash (in fact, it would be unusual if one were available for coins), so you can expect to add the Cricket Gnome to your collection for 15 Farm Cash. You'll gain 1500 experience points for purchasing this cute little fella, which should make a nice addition to your collection, no matter which farm you place him on.

For the other four decorations, you'll need to be willing to spend anywhere from 2,000 to 150,000 coins to add these items to your farm. Starting with the least expensive item, we have the fourth installment in the "Spring Flowerbed" series - the Spring Flowerbed IV item which is available for 2,000 coins. A Jumping Fence (like that found in Equestrian activities) costs 8,000 coins each, while a Red Phone Booth goes for 50,000 coins. Finally, the most expensive of the four is the Cricket Garden, at the aforementioned 150,000 coin price tag.

It's worth noting that while the Cricket Garden is a fairly pricey item, it isn't very large, taking up an area no larger than a single plot of land. Keep that in mind when you go to shell out that many coins - it's not as visually impressive of an item as you might expect, as you can see from the store's preview image below.

Regardless of the item(s) you choose to purchase, you'll need to do so within the next two weeks, before they expire from the store.

FarmVille yucks it up with April Fools animals and decorations

A bunch of new items have arrived in FarmVille today along with a fancy loading screen gag. This lot of April Fools Day items aren't so much jokes as they are just ... weird. Anyway, they're available in the Market for you to enjoy the second greatest holiday of the year, April Fools. (Christmas trumps all, sorry folks.) Most of the items expectantly go for Farm Cash, but a few cost coins for the more economic crowd. The coolest in this lot? Um, the Robot Dino Ninja, as if you needed to ask.

FarmVille LE English Countryside Decorations: Rose Iron Fence, Garden Picnic & More

If you don't have a lot of Farm Cash saved up to spend on English Countryside decorations in FarmVille, you'll be happy to know that in tonight's update, three of the four newly released decorative items are available for coins, rather than Farm Cash.

These three items are the Rose Iron Fence, the Garden Picnic (which instantly reminded me of the Mad Hatter's tea-party, what with the different types of chairs and seeming disorganization of it all), and the Secluded Hideaway, which is swinging bench that has been overgrown with ivy. These three items cost 7,000 coins, 150,000 coins and 100,000 coins, respectively. As usual, the more the item costs, the more experience points you'll receive as your purchase reward.

For the one Farm Cash item, it comes in the form of an English Carriage, being pulled by two horses. The English Carriage costs 16 Farm Cash to add to your farm, and you'll gain 1600 experience points for purchasing it.

All four of these items will be available for the next two weeks, and all four are also able to be placed on either your Home Farm or your English Countryside farm, but remember, if you want the same item on both farms, you will have to purchase it twice.

FarmVille Mardi Gras Decorations: French Quarter, Carnival Float, Mask Fountain & More

With tonight's FarmVille update came the release of three new decorative items in the game's new Mardi Gras theme, along with the re-release of two items that were first made available in the game at around this time last year. These new decorations are split into two actual decorations and one building, with the building being the French Quarter - a building that is styled after those you'd see on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, the home of Mardi Gras.

The French Quarter is quite substantial in size, so keep that in mind. It costs 25 Farm Cash to add to your farm, and you'll gain 2500 experience points for purchasing it. The building has no function, but simply looking at this intricately designed and colorful building seems to be enough.

Meet us behind the break for a look at the other items released this evening. As for the decorations, again, some of these are new and some were released last year. Both of the new items are Farm Cash only, with a Carnival Float being available for 12 Farm Cash, and a Mask Fountain costing 15 Farm Cash. Personally, the Mask Fountain is the much more interesting item here, regardless of its slightly higher price tag, as it animates with flying confetti and of course water pouring out of the fountain's top and sides. You'll gain 1500 experience points for purchasing the Mask Fountain, and only 120 for buying the Carnival Float.

Finally, the two re-released items are the Carnival Mask I and Carnival Mask II. Both of these items are available for coins, and come in the form of masks perched on sticks. Both cost 2,200 coins, will reward you with 22 experience points for purchasing, and can be sold for 110 coins in return. Luckily, these are the exact same stats as when they were first available in the game, so no need to feel bitter about a price hike here (as has been the case in the past).

Remember, the Fairy Tale theme that had taken up residence in the game over the past few weeks has officially ended, so if you're looking to spend coins and Farm Cash on some new decorations in the game, you can either pick over what's still available in the store (a selection that is lessening quickly as things expire), or you can jump into the Mardi Gras spirit and pick up items in this new theme, which will be available for the next two weeks.

FarmVille Fairy Tale Decorations: Knight Gnome, Green Willow Tree, & More

As part of tonight's FarmVille update, we see the release of four new decorative items in the Fairy Tale limited edition item theme. These items are some of those that we saw in the latest Fairy Tale Theme Showcase video last week, and are split evenly between those that cost Farm Cash, and those that go for coins.

The premium items are the Knight Gnome (an accompaniment to the previously released Princess Gnome), and the Green Willow Tree. The Green Willow Tree is a fairly inexpensive item, as far as Farm Cash prices go, costing 6 Farm Cash and rewarding you with 600 experience points for purchasing it. The Knight Gnome, meanwhile, comes with the high price that we expect of gnomes, at 15 Farm Cash. You'll receive 1500 experience points for adding one to your farm.

Meanwhile, the two coin-only items are the Gumdrop Sprinkle and the Mermaid Fountain, which cost 8,000 and 240,000 coins, respectively. While it's not technically set up as one, the Gumdrop Sprinkle seems like it would be a perfect fencing for your other Fairy Tale items, as it is a skinny, rectangular object. Whether or not Zynga released them with that as the intentional design usage isn't clear, but it's an idea to keep in mind all the same.

These decorations will be available in the store for the next 14 days, so shop fast to ensure you don't miss them as they will expire from the store after that time.

FarmVille Anti-Valentine Decorations: Broken Heart Home, Barbed Heart, and more

Remember back in the middle of January, when Zynga asked users what they thought about potentially having an Anti-Valentine's Day theme of items in FarmVille? While the majority of this month's festivities have been about celebrating the light and cheery side of love, Zynga has come through with their impromptu suggestion of releasing Anti-Valentine's Day items in the game, as they have released a whole set of decorations in tonight's update.

The first item is actually a building, which comes with one of the best animations I've seen in the game. It is the Broken Heart Home, and it is available for 18 Farm Cash. This is a fairly large item, both in terms of its base size and its height, as a dark rain cloud hovers over the home, sending a never-ending rain-shower onto the home below. The home is also decorated as its name suggests - as a broken heart with a crack down the center - so if you're single this Valentine's Day, or just appreciate the darker theme of this item, make sure to give it a look.

As for the new purely decorative items, there are five to choose from, with one in particular bordering on being Anti- or Pro- Valentine's Day. That item is the Valentine Willow, an animated purple tree that drops hearts from its branches. Again, this is only a decorative tree - it can't be harvested from, so don't purchase this one if you are expecting to make a profit out of it. Adding a Valentine Willow to your farm will cost 6 Farm Cash.

The other decorative items are more decidedly Anti-Valentine's Day, and come in the form of two topiaries - a Barbed Heart and a Dark Heart - a Black Rose Arch, and a Heart Broken Gnome. For those that were playing the game around Halloween of 2010, you'll recognize this Black Rose Arch as an item that was released in the game last October. The price has remained the same over its relatively short absence from the game, as you can pick one up for 10,000 coins. The Barbed Heart and Dark Heart topiaries also cost 10,000 coins each, and will reward you with 100 XP for purchasing them.

Finally, the Heart Broken Gnome is another premium item, only being available for 15 Farm Cash. For that price, you'll be able to add this sad little fella to your gnome collection, as he stands with a broken box of chocolates and wilted flowers.

All of these Anti-Valentine's Day items will be available in the game for the next two weeks, giving you plenty of time to celebrate your hatred of this admittedly mushy holiday on your farm.
