Angry Birds Heikki revs up fans this summer, this fall ... and this winter

You wanted more Angry Birds, right? Well, how about a new themed level every few weeks? That's what players will get as the crux of Rovio's partnership with Formula 1 (F1) racer Heikki Kovalainen. Starting today, players will get to go for the gold in special levels of Angry Birds themed around (and released alongside) the rest of the upcoming races in the 2012 F1 season.

For those keeping score, that's 12 levels across the next five months, starting today with the upcoming grand prix race at Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire, England. Then, it's off to Hockenheim, Germany and so forth. With each race comes a new Angry Birds level to master, which incorporates the leader boards popularized by Angry Birds Friends on Facebook.
But replacing the power-ups Facebook bird-flingers have come to love are special Heikki-themed boosts. However, players will have to "Like" the racer's Facebook page to unlock access to the power-up. Considering it's a free bird capped in Heikki's signature helmet, you'll probably want to go do that. And just like that, the almighty Angry Birds power-pimp another property.

Since Christmas is over in FarmVille, the elves of Winter Wonderland are left with a lack of work to do, so they've decided to throw an appreciation party for their friends to occupy their time. Of course, you'll be there every step of the way, and will receive plenty of prizes for your efforts. This Elf Party series is technically chapter 6 of the Winter Wonderland storyline, with FarmVille Freak discovering that there are 12 goals to complete in all, over the next two week time frame. Here's how to finish all 12 goals, along with a look at the prizes you'll receive.

Goal 1: Get 4 Construction Paper Harvest Train Station Harvest 200 Red Iceberry
For this "Get 4 Construction Paper" task, you'll need to ask your friends to send them to you. The same setup goes for the rest of the "Get X Item" tasks for the rest of this goal series - asking your friends is the way to go. When you finish this first goal, you'll receive 100 XP, a Turbo Charger 3-Pack and 2,500 coins.

Goal 2: Get 6 Glue Sticks Make 2 Frozen Fruit Tarts Harvest 200 Frozen Grapes
The Frozen Fruit Tart recipe can be crafted inside your Sweet Shoppe, with each individual one requiring two Red Iceberry, two Frozen Grape and two Rye Bushels to craft. You'll also need a four-star Sweet Shoppe to even have access to the recipe, so start crafting now! For finishing this goal, you'll receive 200 XP, a Popsicle Tree and 2,500 coins.

Goal 3: Get 8 Glitter Jars Harvest Popsicle Tree Harvest 200 Snow Tulips
Rewards: Glitter Penguin, 300 XP, 2,500 coins

Goal 4: Get 8 Streamers Make Lollipop Recipe Twice Harvest 225 Gingerbread
Lollipops require two Snow Tulip, two Frozen Grape and three Blueberry Bushels for each batch. When you finally finish this goal, you'll receive 400 XP, a Tangled Sheep and 2,500 coins.

Goal 5: Get 8 Punch Bowls Harvest Tangled Sheep Harvest 225 Gummi Bears
Rewards: 400 XP, Boston Terrier, 2,500 coins

Goal 6: Get 8 Party Poppers Craft Gingerbread House Twice Harvest 225 Holly
A single batch of Gingerbread House requires two Gingerbread, three Gummi Bear and two Coffee Bushels to create. You'll also need a four-star building for this recipe. For finishing this goal, you'll receive 400 XP, a Heart Polar Bear and 5,000 coins

Goal 7: Get 8 Heart Snowballs Harvest Heart Polar Bear Twice Harvest 250 Carrotcicle
Rewards: 500 XP, Ice Heart Sculpture, 5,000 coins

Goals 8: Get 8 Whoozi Wutzits Harvest Winter Animal Pen Harvest 250 Red Iceberries
Rewards: 500 XP, Heart Penguin, 5,000 coins

Goal 9: Get 8 Shiny Bobdingers Make Healthy Donuts Twice Harvest 250 Gingerbread
A single batch of Healthy Donuts requires three Iceberg Lettuce, three Carrotcicle and two Pattypan Squash bushels to craft. When you finish this goal, you'll receive 1,000 XP, a Heartflake Tree and 10,000 coins.

Goal 10: Get 9 Social Guides Harvest Boston Terrier Twice Harvest 300 Iced Rice
Rewards: 500 XP, Sasquatch Statue, 5,000 coins

Goal 11: Get 10 Sasquatch Cologne Make Peanut Brittle Twice Achieve Mastery Level 2 for Iced Rice
Peanut Brittle requires three Iced Rice, two Gingerbread and two Peanut Bushels to craft. For completing this goal, you'll receive 500 XP, a Sasquatch Cave and 5,000 coins.

Goal 12: Get 12 High Fives Harvest 300 Frozen Grapes Achieve Level 2 Mastery of Candied Yams
Rewards: 1,000 XP, High5omatic, 5,000 coins

As you can, these goals are pretty intensive when it comes to crafting items in your Sweet Shoppe, so if you have yet to level up to Level 4, you'll definitely want to start crafting anything you can, and make sure you have something crafting constantly to level up as quickly as possible. You can also pay Farm Cash to upgrade your Sweet Shoppe automatically, but I'd only do that as an absolutely last resort. Good luck!

CityVille Holiday Hills Neighborhood: Store homes until next winter

If you were really into the Christmas and Winter events that ended 2011 in CityVille, and have already filled your Frostdale Ridge neighborhood to the brim, you might want to check out another new themed neighborhood that has just launched in the game. The Holiday Hills neighborhood costs 20,000 coins, and while it's a larger neighborhood, it will still ultimately allow you to store 15 Winter Residences.

As we've come to understand (through unfortunate experience), these "winter" residences usually don't actually store all holiday residences, but you'll be able to see how many eligible homes you own before ever purchasing it. For instance, I still have four winter residences outside of storage, so I'm told that I could store those four and still have 11 storage spaces left over.

Of course, the process for building and filling this neighborhood is as you'd expect: You'll need to ask your friends to send you building materials, and then ask them again to fill out staff slots within the neighborhood to actually unlock storage for individual homes, and will see the neighborhood change visually to reflect the additional homes that have been put inside.

Is this neighborhood really worth it? Unless you purchased a slew of holiday homes last month, I wouldn't really say that it is. You can continue to purchase homes with the hope that they'll qualify as being "storable" inside the neighborhood, but even then it's a bit risky. Of course, the final purchase decision will be up to you, but I wouldn't blame you if you skipped this one entirely.

Leading into the Christmas holiday, we're not at a loss for work in FarmVIlle, as a new chapter of goals in Winter Wonderland has launched this week (that being Chapter 3, for those keeping track). This third Chapter is another lengthy one, with Bonus Challenges being added at the end for, well, extra challenge. FamVilleFreak has discovered the details to finishing all of these goals, so use your two week time limit wisely to get through them all!

To Green or Not to Green Get 4 Wreaths Harvest 70 Iced Rice Complete 1 Winter Paddock
The Winter Horse Paddock was launched over the weekend, and you can find our guide to building it right here (if you've already built one before starting this goal, that task will be completed automatically). The Iced Rice, meanwhile, takes 12 hours to grow. Finish this goal and you'll receive 100 XP, a Sad Christmas Tree (a Charlie Brown Christmas, without actually calling it that) and 2,500 coins.

Let There Be Light! Get 6 Strings of Lights Harvest 70 Gingerbread Discover one Medium Snow Treasure
Again, if you've already cleared your farm of all Medium Snow Treasures, this task should be completed for you. The Gingerbread takes eight hours to grow, and once you finish these three tasks you'll be rewarded with 200 XP, a Holiday Beagle and 2,500 coins.

Snow Big Deal Get 8 Stockings Harvest 80 Iced Rice Harvest the Holiday Beagle
My suggestion? Place the Holiday Beagle in an animal storage building as soon as you can so that you can harvest it quicker than simply letting it mature on its own. For finishing this goal, you'll receive 300 XP, a Plastic Duck Toy Soldier and 2,500 coins.

Stocking Stuffers Get 8 Jack in the Boxes Harvest 90 Red Iceberries Complete 1 Winter Cow Pasture
You can find our guide to building and completing the Winter Cow Pasture right here. Red Iceberries take eight hours to grow. For finishing this entire goal, you'll receive 400 XP, a Reindeer Pig and 2,500 coins.

Train Train Go Away Get 8 Teddy Bears Harvest 100 Holly Harvest Polar Train Station
This goal doesn't require you to have upgraded your Train Station to any particular level, so just wait up to 24 hours for it to be ready to harvest (depending on when you last did so) and you'll complete this task. Holly takes 16 hours to grow. Finish this goal and you'll receive 400 XP, a Jingle Bell (on a pole) and 2,500 coins.

Pretty Presents Get 8 Frannie Farm Dolls Master the Holiday Beagle to Level 1 Harvest 100 Mint Candy
Mint Candy takes a full day to grow, and if you've been regularly harvesting your Holiday Beagle, you might be lucky enough to already have that one down too. Once you finish this goal, you'll receive 400 XP, a Partridge and 2,500 coins.

Fire Drill Get 8 Toy Fire Trucks Make Peppermint Fudge Twice Harvest 110 Gummi Bears
Gummi Bears take a full day to grow, but in that time you'll have the chance to craft Peppermint Fudge inside your Sweet Shoppe. A single batch requires two Mint Candy, three Candied Yam and two Coffee Bushels. Once you finish this goal, you'll receive 500 XP, a Caroling Penguin and 5,000 coins.

Chugging Along Get 8 Model Trains Harvest 120 Frozen Grapes Harvest 1 Caroling Penguin
Frozen Grapes take a full day to grow. Once you finish this goal, you'll receive 500 XP, Two Turtle Doves and 5,000 coins.

The Final Countdown Get 8 Nutcrackers Harvest 120 Candied Yams Craft Peppermint Fudge Twice
Candied Yams take just four hours to grow, so remember to come back quickly and harvest them before they wither. This will be the last "regular" goal in this series, but there are still three more challenges to go. You'll receive 500 XP, a Jack Frost Gnome and 5,000 coins for finishing this one off.

Bonus Challenge 1: Take A Holiday Get 9 Roasted Chestnuts Harvest 1 Polar Hare Expand Winter Animal Pen
To expand your Winter Animal Pen, you'll simply need to collect more and more of the same building ingredients used to construct it in the first place. Check out our guide for more. For finishing this goal, you'll earn 500 XP, an Open Fire decoration and 5,000 coins.

Bonus Challenge 2: Winter Break Get 10 Glasses of Eggnog Craft Candy Cane 4 Times Harvest 130 Red Iceberries
You'll need at least a three star crafting building to craft Candy Canes (the "challenging" part of this challenge goal), but if you're already there, you can craft a single Candy Cane with two Mint Candy, two Iceburg Lettuce and three Pumpkin bushels each. For finishing this goal, you'll receive 500 XP, a Christmas Goose and 5,000 coins.

Bonus Challenge 3: Milk and Cookies Get 6 Glasses of Milk Get 6 Winter Cookies Harvest 140 Holly
Here, the Holly task might be a challenging one, depending on how far you've expanded your Winter Wonderland farm, since plot allowances are locked to different expansions. If that one doesn't slow you down, you'll be able to finish off this goal series once and for all to receive 1,000 XP, a Winter Fairies decoration and 10,000 coins as your final prizes!

FarmVille Winter Holiday Items: Mistletoe Goat, Land Expansion and more

In what might be the last update before Christmas, FarmVille has seen an additional set of items in the Winter Holiday item theme released in the store. This newest release includes animals, trees and more (all of the expected items), but also brings with is a new Winter Wonderland land expansion that's available to purchase for coins! Here's a full look at what is available.
Trees

Frozen Apple Tree - 6 Farm Cash
Big Frozen Apple Tree - 12 Farm Cash
Holiday Lantern Tree - 8 Farm Cash
Big Holiday Lantern Tree - 14 Farm Cash

As usual, these trees come in pairs, with tree collectors really only "needing" to buy the regular sized versions of each tree. The "Big" options are a waste of Farm Cash, as you can earn multiples of these trees over time by simply growing Mystery Seedlings that you've either received on your own farm(s) or gathered from friends.

Animals

Mistletoe Ram - 16 Farm Cash
Candy Corn Stallion - 30 Farm Cash
Mistletoe Goat - 14 Farm Cash
Golden Bell Pony - 24 Farm Cash
Spotted Quoll - 1.5 million coins
Tinsel horse - 26 Farm Cash
Big Golden Bell Pony - 26 Farm Cash
White Andalusian Horse - 26 Farm Cash
Candy Cane Cow - 24 Farm Cash

There are a few re-released animals in this set, so make sure to look through your collection(s) of animals before spending any Farm Cash so you don't do so needlessly.

Buildings

North Pole Palace - 25 Farm Cash

Decorations

Present Gnome - 12 Farm Cash
North Pole Arch - 120,000 coins
Polar Bear Cave - 25 Farm Cash

Unfortunately, many of this update's items have broken images when it comes to previewing them in the store, so if you're in a hurry for some additional holiday cheer, you'll need to wait until the folks at Zynga issue a patch that will make them show up (both in the store and on your farms).

Land Expansions

Drafty Domicile - 1 million coins

This expansion is the 16x16 state, and it boosts your maximum farm plots on your Winter Wonderland farm to 160.

All of these items (except for the land expansion) will be available in the game's store for the next two weeks. By the time they expire from the store, Christmas will have come and gone, but we'll make sure to let you know if any additional items launch in the Winter Holiday theme regardless.

FarmVille Pic of the Day: SpongeBob's Winter Deathtrap by DedHöt

When someone fills their entire FarmVille farm with an image of Spongebob Squarepants being sucked into a sinking void of snow-capped trees, it kind of leaves us with a mixture of speechless awe and Spock-like eyebrow arching. I mean, is this artwork a labor of love or hate? What kind of person uses hay bales to render the traumatized expression of a beloved, children's cartoon character? Well, it's the same kind of person who'd have "DedHöt Chilipapper" for a screen name.

Disturbing artwork or not, DedHöt wields incredible artistic talent. Spongebob's face is fixated in such a look of pure horror that the image immediately gets our attention. The depth of the farm is also impressive. Using those trees to surround Spongebob's body makes him seem more three dimensional, as the trees look like they're swallowing him up alive. This farm certainly screams Pop Art in more ways than one. Ever classy, DedHöt's even signed his or her name on the bottom of the screenshot using a stylized font.

FarmVille Winter Wonderland: Buy an Unwither Ring for your Holiday farm

If you've already purchased an Unwither Ring for your other three farms in FarmVille, you might be interested in purchasing another in Winter Wonderland to complete your set. Luckily, you can now do just that, as an Unwither Ring "For Winter Wonderland" has launched in the game's store. This particular ring comes in a festive red box, and while you might already be able to guess the price, I'm actually pleased to say that your guess would be wrong.

Instead of being priced at 250 Farm Cash, as most other Unwither Rings are, this one is instead priced at 199 Farm Cash. Does that make it cheap? Most certainly not, but it is a savings of almost $10 off of the "normal" purchase price. This isn't a sale price on this particular Unwither Ring (at least, the store says nothing about it being a "sale"), so this is likely just Zynga's way of giving us a bit of a break this holiday.

CastleVille: Winter Holidays have come to the kingdom

Over the past few days, you might have seen a teaser image in CastleVille, advertising the fact that Winter would be coming soon. Well, soon equals now, as a new collection of limited edition items has launched in the store this weekend. You'll be able to purchase new costumes for your avatar, snow to cover your kingdom's land, candy cane fences to keep those animals in check and more. Here's a complete look at the newly available items - get ready to go on a shopping spree!

'Tis the season to play The Sims Social's Cozy Winter Retreat update

With December quickly approaching--like, in less than six hours--it's time to whip out the Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanzaa decorations. Of course, it's no different for the Sims of Little Haven, as EA and Playfish have pushed a new theme to The Sims Social: Cozy Winter Retreat. Your Sims are headed to a comfy-looking ski resort complete with a steamy sauna and jacuzzi.

But that's not the only thing steamy about this content update--more on that later. Starting today, players will have access to a slew of brand new Christmas decorations through the in-game shop including a number of interactive decorations. How does a buildable Christmas Trees sound? You'll get to decorate their very own holiday firs with "tinsel, baubles and other stuff to make your tree look cooler and cooler," according to EA. Better yet, Christmas Trees double as interactive and skill items, and will be able to be used for other items in the future.
Players can also pick up, like we said, yet another new jacuzzi, the Winter Chalet Hot Tub. Unfortunately, we're told that there's no WooHoo to be had in this hot tub, but players can take a deeper dip than usual. Finally players will likely get to make their own Christmas cookies with the Holiday Toasting Set. Of course, a brand new quest awaits players, making a nod to a Christmas classic.

The Simch has descended upon Little Haven with a hatred for all things jolly, and it's up to you to bring the holiday cheer to this grumpy character. As with all The Sims Social quests, there's something in it for you: an Okea Gingerbread Pal. Now, back to the steamy stuff. This weekend, players can pick up a Mistletoe Hat for 25 SimCash that will 100 percent guarantee success with kisses until Jan. 31. And on Monday, a Fire Oven will go on sale that will increase Sims' Cooking skill. Have you started enjoying this wintry updates to The Sims Social yet? CityVille: Deck the halls with Winter and Christmas themed items

December is right around the corner (as in, just a couple of hours away!), so what better way to bring in the new month than by turning your city in CityVille to a winter playground?! Only a few items have been released in the store's Winter theme thus far, but if you want to get a head-start on your holiday decorating, here's what's now available to purchase.

Candy Side Walk
The McCallister house has to be one of the neatest buildings I've seen released in CityVille, whether in a holiday theme or not, as it makes a subtle reference to the classic holiday movie franchise Home Alone. All things considered, the base of this home is rather small, when compared to what the home looks like in the movies, but at least that will help you better manage your space in your town (if land space is still a problem for you).

All of these items are marked as being limited edition in the store, but since December hasn't even technically started, giving us a few weeks before the big day (Christmas day, of course), I wouldn't expect these items to leave the store anytime soon. What I would expect, however, is for more items in the Winter / Christmas theme to launch between now and the end of the year, and you can be sure we'll let you know what those items are once they launch.

FarmVille Winter Holiday Items: Tinsel Gnome, Gold Tinsel Tree and more

With tonight's FarmVille update, we finally see a considerable number of items released in the Winter Holiday item theme. We've seen items released in this theme here and there over the past week or so, but now, the game is ready to celebrate with avatar costumes, animals, buildings and more! Here's a complete look at what's now available.

Trees

Silver Tinsel Tree - 8 Farm Cash
Gold Tinsel Tree - 14 Farm Cash

Here, instead of seeing a giant version of the same tree released in a pair, we see two different colors of decorations instead. Still, the same rule applies: there's no need to purchase the Gold Tinsel Tree as you can receive it for free from Mystery Seedlings.

Animals

Brown Spot Goat - 1 million coins
Giant Santa Sheep - 16 Farm Cash
Santa Sheep - 16 Farm Cash
Santa Dog - 12 Farm Cash
Santa Horse - 26 Farm Cash

What better way to make users spend Farm Cash than by offering giant and normally sized versions of the same animal. That's the case with the Santa Sheep above, so don't be surprised if we see additional animals released in the future with the same setup.

Decorations

Tinsel Gnome - 12 Farm Cash
Candy Fence - 800 coins

If you can't tell from the picture above, the Tinsel Gnome is a poor gnome that has found himself wrapped in garland. Meanwhile, the Candy Fence is the same candy-cane-designed fence that we've seen released in the game in previous Winter Holiday / Christmas events.

Avatar Costumes

Miss Santa - 15 Farm Cash
Snowman - 10 Farm Cash

Here, the two costumes are re-releases from previous years, so if you can't see either in your store, you likely already have it/them in your virtual closet.

All of these items (apparently with the exception of the Winter Teddy above) will be available in the game's store for the next two weeks. Keep in mind that we have yet to see the rest of the Thanksgiving items that will be released in the game as well, so you might want to save some coins / Farm Cash for that theme as well. Ah, who am I kidding? Bring on the Christmas cheer!
