Version 2.0 beta of App Insights is now ready for developers, Facebook announced Thursday. All Facebook app developers can opt into this new version of App Insights starting today. It provides developers with a better dashboard to manage apps, as well as more actionable data, a clearer interface and improved warnings when outages occur.
Facebook Software Engineer Daniel Tomko discussed how App Insights 2.0's improvement in actionable data helps developers:
We’ve re-organized the data you need to make a decision in one place. For example, we now have a single dashboard which tells you how much traffic you receive from Facebook, whether it’s coming from Open Graph stories or Requests.
We realize that it’s difficult to make decisions in a vacuum. Now, you can compare key metrics for your app to those for other apps. For example, if you see an abnormal spike in the mark-as-spam rate for your app’s stories, you can see if the spike is isolated to your app or if other apps also see the spike. Note: metrics are aggregated and anonymized – Insights will never show your app’s metrics to another developer.
Facebook noted that the company will still continue to make improvements to App Insights by bringing in more features from the previous version as well as adding new features. For now, App Insights 1.0 will be the default option. To try the beta product, go to the App Insights overview page and click “try the new App Insights.”

Facebook recently announced mobile engagement ads, video app install ads and the ability to bid on ads using cost per action. Facebook Preferred Marketing Developer Adquant (formerly Adotomi) is staying right with the social network, announcing support for these new ad units.
Adquant updated their mobile advertising offerings to make sure clients have all they need to succeed with these new advertising options. The new ad units debuted by Facebook allow developers to showcase their app through a video, as well as prompt users who already have the app downloaded to return.
Adquant CEO Joe McCormack announced this update in a press release:
We originally built Adquant to serve our internal needs as a game and mobile advertising agency. We know how important these improvements are to our customers, which is why we worked around the clock to support them as quickly as possible.

Iron Monkey and Firemint might not be names that are instantly familiar to most mobile gamers, but I'd be willing to wager that most have played at least one of their games. Firemint is the name behind games like Flight Control, Real Racing and Spy Mouse, while Iron Monkey is the company responsible for the mobile versions of many EA console titles, ranging from Dead Space and Mirror's Edge to The Sims and Need for Speed. Now, Electronic Arts has announced a voluntary merger of these two Australian mobile giants, as Firemint and Iron Monkey have become Firemonkeys. Between the two developers, Firemonkeys' games can lay claim to over 85 million downloads on iOS and Android devices, with eight games being available on Android and 16 being up for grabs on iOS. The two companies have received over 50 rewards within the industry, and the average rating for each title on the iTunes App Store is over 4.0 out of 5 stars. Needless to say, these are two super-developers that are great at what they do.
