PS4 Launch Month Leaked

PlayStation's Saudi Arabia division has seemingly confirmed the overwhelming general consensus that the PlayStation 4 will indeed launch in October.

A video released by PlayStation Saudi Arabia has a title that reads, according to Google Translator, "Ready For October". To add further credence to the video's validity, the video was tweeted by the company's official Twitter account.

GTA 5 Achievements leaked

Grand Theft Auto 5 isn't due out for another month, but the list of Achievements for Xbox 360 (presumably the same for PS3, minus the trophy tier) have been posted online. The list is mostly spoiler free, with most achievements seemingly tied to side objectives.

Some noteworthy achievements include collecting and returning spaceship parts, something about "needing a bigger boat," and making a profit over your total investments in the stock market.

Surprisingly -- or maybe not so much given how much effort has been put into it -- 17 of the 38 non-secrt achievements listed are tied to GTA Online. So for you completionists out there, looks like you'll have to delve into the online social space of Los Santos to earn 100% completion and the assocated 100 Gamerscore.

Leaked PS4 user interface video

The part where the user interface was shown was actually an accident, the tester was trying out the Blacklight: Retribution demo on a test kit. It looked as if the game crashed, so we were able to see the tester go through the PS4 interface.

During the crash, the he says, "The kit was actually one of the first test kits to come out, so we will definitely crash. It's still optimizing. It's nowhere near alpha, let alone beta.."

Leaked Star Wars: First Assault footage shows gameplay we may never experience

Star Wars: First Assault is a game that first popped up last year. While LucasArts has never officially announced it, box art for the game indicated it would be release on Xbox LIVE Arcade. Fast forward a few months later -- with Disney having now acquired LucasFilm -- and we're beginning to get more details surrounding First Assault, which is now described as a multiplayer shooter that may never actually see a release.

Kotaku has been running articles all week about the game which is said to be in limbo since Disney's acquisition of LucasFilm and yesterday they posted what looks like leaked footage of Star Wars: First Assault. Two videos were actually posted, the first being a pre-rendered intro to the trailer that shows a first-person view of a Stormtrooper putting on his helmet.

The second video is a bit more revealing giving us our first look at a game we may never get to play. The video (found here) is said to contain real gameplay footage; you can clearly see stormtroopers and rebels battling across various Star Wars locations. It's unclear what stage of the game this footage was captured from, but it does look a little rough around the edges. Perhaps the delay is to polish things up a bit?

SimCity 5 sure looks pretty, based on these leaked images [Rumor]

Between a SimCity game for Facebook that's supposedly in the works and a cross-platform sequel to the acclaimed series, all signs point to some SimCity game that's being worked on somewhere for something and that's to release some time. Fueling the fire behind the rampant rumors are seven leaked pieces of concept art and in-game images posted by users on NeoGAF, a popular discussion board for gamers.

The images first appeared in German gaming magazine Gamestar within a feature claiming that the images depict SImCity 5. The magazine reports that developer Maxis' SimCity 5 is due out in 2013, and that it's about 30 percent complete. However, platforms weren't discussed in the piece, it seems. According to the roughly translated story, staples like graphs, metrics and interactions with city councils, SimCity 5 will focus more on multiplayer than ever.
Players' cities will create regions with intertwining economies that rely on the fluctuating costs of essential commodities. The game will also take a city's citizens into account more. For instance, if unemployment rates increase, so will the amount of homeless roaming the streets. For those who've been hankering for a new SimCity regardless of where it lands, this forum post is well worth the read, which also contains all of the leaked images.
