Wii U Version of Batman: Arkham Origins to Cost Less

When Batman: Arkham Origins arrives next month, players will experience a compelling new single player campaign, as well as interesting multiplayer options, where you can either play as the Caped Crusader or the criminals trying to put him down.

Unfortunately, the Wii U version won't have multiplayer. Not to worry, though, as WB Games will drop the price. While the other versions will sell for $60, the Wii U edition will go for $10 less, clocking in at $50. The price change has already taken effect with Amazon pre-orders, and other retailers should follow suit.

Batman: Arkham Origins releases October 25h for Wii U, along with Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.

Clash Of Clans Updated to Version 3.25

Supercell's Clash of Clans has just been updated to version 3.25 - introducing the largest content update we've seen for the blockbuster strategy game.
As well as an improved leaderboard system, you can now bring six new units into the field of play, take advantage of brand-new defense systems, and also make use of some helpful new improvements to Hero behaviour.Here's the complete low-down on what to expect from Version 3.25:

Cool New Leaderboards

- Climb to the top of your Clan; see who's on the rise and who's falling.

- New local Leaderboards: who's the best player in your country?

- Clan members who recently joined tagged as "New".

- Supersize my Leaderboards! More players now fit onboard.

New unit upgrades!

- Upgrade your Laboratory to unlock these mighty level 6 units:

- Barbarians get sharper swords and mighty horned helmets.

- Archers get new bow techniques and fashionable tiaras from their Queen.

- Giants are heartier and hairier than ever.

- Balloons are pimped out with spikes and the Jolly Roger.

Air-tight air defense!

- New deadly traps to stop airborne attackers: Air Bomb and Seeking Air Mine.

This is what I loved in localized version of Civilization 1

I’m talking about Civilization 1 (or 2). Many, many, many years ago when dinosaurs ruled the land and Civilization 1 & 2 were the best games on earth. That’s when I spent countless number of hours building my very own civilization.

And at some point I noticed something cool. I noticed a language file! There it was. Staring right at me under the game folder.

It didn’t take me long to ignite my game developer mode and off to modding I headed. I started localizing the game to Finnish. Sometimes it was slightly difficult, since the language file supported only ascii characters, and Finnish has few extra characters (Ääää and Ööö), but I did manage to avoid the blows pretty well. I Didn’t use “A” instead of “Ä”, but rather tried to use other Finnish words instead and got language file translated.

When I launched the game, and saw my version appear there… it was a great feeling.

Instead of translating your game, maybe provide players tools to make their own translations?

Zynga, well, drops Drop7 Free on iOS, ad-free $2.99 version available

Since Zynga acquired NewToy in late 2010, the developer behind Words with Friends, it has been serious about mobile gaming. This is the company's next major release, and its not FrontierVille Mobile--it's Drop7. Both a color and number-matching puzzler, Drop7 lives in a strange world where Tetris and Bejeweled are just best friends. The game features three difficulty levels, public leader boards and automatically saves your state when closed through the Home button. The free version, of course, contains ads, though the company offers an ad-free version for $2.99. Does this mean a future in original, (possibly non-social) mobile games from Zynga? If that depends on this critically-acclaimed title, then yes, most likely.

First test with the first “real” physical version and I fear that…

… this might turn out to be quite fun game to play.

Pardon me for the crappy picture quality, I just took some hi-res shots when my photo camera and battery died before I managed to import the pictures to my machine – now need to recharge. This picture was taken with my iTakeCrappyShotsOtherwisePerfectDevicePod Touch.

On the left (barely visible, brown cards: reading “resource, petrol”) are the resource cards. The purpose of the game is to gather enough resources to make an escape. Resources can also be used to overcome tough challenges (but then resource is lost).

Next to resource cards are the Encounter cards (bit of red blood on these cards, yaiks). Players need to overcome these to gain resources. In case of failure, Encounter cards are discarded from the encounter deck. Players will lose if encounter pile is exhausted (and new encounter would need to be drawn), so the encounter has many purposes.

Then there’s the Action cards, which come in 3 different types: success, failure, problems. These are used in order to beat Encounters and are most used cards in the game. Most of the action cards have special conditions on them, which give little bit of pondering on when to use them.

On the right are the character cards. Currently there’s bunch of characters, each with their own special skills and abilities.

Outside the picture there’s also few special cards: day/night card, leader card (acts also as the turn marker) and team cards (which determine your side)

Last night I played solo (simulated 2 player co-op version) and I was bit afraid how the playing feels when I actually have the “real” (not just cards taken from other games or post-it notes scribblings) physical version with actual card texts and for the first “real” version, I must say that I have positive feelings about this game.
