It’s time to act.
It’s great to observe and offer commentary on the woes of the game design industry, but if I want it to be a better place, to treat the people I care about with respect, then I need to work to make it an environment I can be proud of choosing for my career. At this point in time, the best platform for doing so is the IGDA. To this end, I have officially announced that I am running for a seat on the Board of Directors.
Regardless of the election outcome, I am going to continue to work within the IGDA to change the culture of the industry for the better. I’ve set up a new blog, specifically for IGDA and industry-related thoughts. You can find it here: Corvus & the IGDA.
You can also interact with the blog on Facebook thanks to a plugin called WPBook, which shares comments between the blog and Facebook. The embedded widget in the post will make it easy for you to follow along on FB, if that’s your preference.
You can do the same with Semionaut’s Notebook by clicking the like link for our Zakelro! Facebook page in the sidebar. This is the first of lots of little blog updates I have planned for this year, some of which will simply make managing the blog easier, some of which will (hopefully) make the blog easier/more enjoyable to interact with.
In tangentially related news, I have closed the PA threads. It is time to move forward, not look backward. The last week has been extraordinarily difficult and I have had difficulty focusing on the projects in front of me. And given that I’m now taking on several more projects, I can’t really afford that.
Now, to work I go. Lots and lots of ducks to get in a row and very little time in which to do so. Have a great Monday!
